Betty J. Stanford
AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Betty J. Stanford, 92, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Shadow Oaks Assisted Living.
Betty was born in Healdton, Oklahoma. She was an associate graduate of Oklahoma A&M College. She was married to Warren Elton Stanford for 49 years until his death in 1994. She was an accountant/bookkeeper in the public school system in Pittsburg, Kansas for 15 years, as well as a fulltime homemaker. Betty lived in Pittsburg, Kansas for 26 years, then transferred to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 14 years. She and her husband moved to Aiken in 1984 after retirement to be near family. She was a member of the New Friends Club in the 1990's, a member of the Aiken Needle Point Guild from 1990-2008, and a member of St. John's Methodist Church of Aiken.
Mrs. Stanford was preceded in death by her parents Pauline & James Clarke, her husband Warren E. Stanford, her daughter Patricia Stanford and her sister Anna Clarke Jones.
Betty is survived by her sons, Warren E. Stanford II (Mary) and Clarke A. Stanford (Joanne) all of Aiken; her brother, Gene F. Clarke of Round Rock, Texas; grandchildren, Warren E. Stanford III, Alison (Todd) Mueller, Andrea (Steven) Selman, and Kathryn (Daniel) Guyton; great-grandchildren, Gracelyn and Elton Mueller and Steven Selman and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 5pm Friday, January 16, 2015 in the Chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC, with Rev. Dr. Ray Litts officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be in Pittsburg, Kansas on Monday, January 19, 2015.
