Barbara Kerner
AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Barbara McRee Kerner, 85, passed away Monday, January 21, 2019. She was born September 24th, 1933 in Dawson, GA, the daughter of the late Rebecca Oxford McRee and Clarence Edwin McRee.
She attended Randolph Macon Woman's College and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
She was married to her beloved husband Col. Robert Carl Kerner for 61 years. She was devoted to her family which included 5 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Col. Robert Carl Kerner, daughter Rebecca (Thomas) Ervasti, sons Robert (Gemimah), Charles, Eric (Joyce), and William Kerner; grandchildren Laura (Rachel) Rice, William Kerner, Michael (Robin) Thaisen, and Benjamin Kerner; great-grandchildren Indiana Rice and Erin Thaisen; and brother Dixon (Mary) McRee.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Augusta. Graveside services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Robert has a great love for Barbara, and he said frequently, he "loves her more and more each day." Barbara was a beautiful person who loved her husband, God, her country, and children, and will be greatly missed by all.
