Barbara A. Batton
AIKEN - Barbara A. Batton, 89, widow of James Erekine "Pete" Batton, Sr., passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 in Piedmont Augusta Hospital.
A native of Greenwood, SC, Barbara was a daughter of the late James and Estelle Bell Devore. She and Pete moved their family to Aiken in 1955 so he could work at the Savannah River Plant. She was a homemaker and long-time member of South Aiken Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Green; son, Jim Batton (Mai), all of Aiken; five grandchildren, Jennifer Green (Kevin Liles), Travis Batton (Camille), Paul Batton (Morgan), Adam Batton, Brent Batton (Alexandria); four great-grandchildren, Carter Batton, Sommer Batton, Lee Batton, Luke Batton. She is also survived by her close friend Sally Lacher. In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jerry Green and brother, Jimmy Devore.
There will be no formal visitation, however family and friends may pay their respects Friday afternoon, June 30th between 3 and 5 o'clock at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 AM in Southlawn Cemetery with The Rev. Steve Taylor officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Darien Baptist Church, P.O. Box 523, Montmorenci, SC 29839 or to South Aiken Baptist Church, 980 Dougherty Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
