ANN WOODS Obituary

WOODS, ANN THRELKELD - 80, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Born in Memphis, TN, on September 3, 1933, she attended Southwestern College (now Rhodes) and held a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from Vanderbilt and a Masters degree in chemistry from University of Tennessee. Ann traveled extensively, and was known for her orchid collection, and her green thumb as well as her love for airedale terriers and her dedication to rescuing dogs. She is pictured here after swimming with the dolphins in San Diego. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Franklin Wilson Woods D.Forestry; parents, Dr. Colin Hodge Threlkeld and Anna Cleage Threlkeld; brothers, Dr. Colin Hodge Threlkeld, and Robert Threlkeld. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Drs. Edward and Pamela Mobley, Jack and Sandra Mobley, Cyndy Mobley and her husband Ron Morton; and her grandson, Chris Mobley. She is also survived by her stepchildren, James David Woods, Dr. Alice Anne Woods Welch D.Chem, Peter Charles Woods, Dr. Edward Andrew Woods, Dr. Mary Margret Woods McClanathan Pharm.D.; nieces and nephews, Dr. Steve Threlkeld, Dr. Mike Threlkeld, Ann Threlkeld, Bill Threlkeld, Tim Threlkeld, Rob Threlkeld, Ted Threlkeld and Bobby Threlkeld; and sisters-in-law, Martha Threlkeld and Susie Threlkeld; and brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Bill Threlkeld and his wife, Jo Threlkeld. Donations, in lieu of flowers, to Airedale Rescue Group c/o Barbara Lawson, 30 Ashline Drive,Champlain NY 12919, or UT Botanical Gardens, Department of Plant Sciences, 252 Ellington Plant Sciences Bldg, 2431 Joe Johnson Drive, Knoxville, TN 37996. Ann was a long-time member of Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, March 4th, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 1101 North Broadway, Knoxville, TN, with Father John Mark Wiggers officiating. A visitation for family and friends will follow in the parish hall.
