Alice Foster Obituary
AIKEN, SC - How do you encapsulate the dash of Alice Lee Foster? October 28, 1927 - January 1, 2015.
The New Year brought Alice Lee Foster the Glory of a New Life in Christ. She joins in the Glory of those preceding her: husband, Charles Wright Foster, and beloved sons Charles Gamble and Martin Wright Foster.
Alice Lee was a magnificent light of God's love in this painful world. She embodied Honor. She was a true servant to others. She made her heart known to strangers, and gave her heart fully to her friends she loved as family. Her life was marked by tragedy, but punctuated with Goodwill!
She is survived by her worldly treasures: son, Lee Gamble; grandsons, Michael Henderson Foster and David Patrick Foster; granddaughter, Stephanie Cathleen Arani; and the countless many that she loved and served as kin.
In advance of the memorial of Alice Lee Foster, we would like to make a special point to honor her dear sister, Helen Frances Sage Asbill. She was not included in the list of Mrs. Charlie Foster's posterity but has always dwelled near the heart of Alice Lee: who is survived also by her sister.
A memorial service will be held 2:00pm on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. John's United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St NW, Aiken, SC 29801. The Reverend Doctor Ray Litts is officiating.
The family of Alice Lee Foster will host a celebration of life after the memorial service at the home of Russell Harmon: 140 Yellow Pine Road in Woodside.
In lieu of flowers, Alice Lee would like donations to be made to the Walton High School Touchdown Club, 1590 Bill Murdock Road, Marietta, GA 30062
The Historic George Funeral Home, 211 Park Ave., SW, Aiken, SC (803.649.6234) in charge of arrangements.

So often I find myself remembering a moment I shared with Alice Lee.
She worked her way right into my heart almost from day one.
I truly feel she was sent to me on the day we met as a gift from God. It was perfect timing.
Our times together will always be special to me. I still have a Christmas coffee cup that I use when I need to feel her near and have her words of wisdom reassure me of something.
I hope the boys are doing well. I know she is smiling down in them every day.
As an anniversary of her gaining her wings approaches, I hope she smiles when she looks our way as well.

To all of Alice Lee's friends and family... I roomed with her son Martin at Furman. We were fraternity brothers. I loved him. Martin loved and adored his mom, Alice Lee. She was a such beautiful and wonderful lady. Such a bright soul! My love to her and to all of you, and to their Stairway to Heaven.... Gordy Ford
