Alfred Dockins Obituary

Reverend Alfred Hugh "Al" Dockins, 76, of Warrenville, SC, beloved husband of fifty-eight years to Virginia Taylor Dockins, received his heavenly reward on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Born in and a resident of Aiken County, SC, most of his life, he was a son of the late Ralph and Mildred Wooley Dockins. Al was ordained in the Congregational Holiness Church over forty years ago to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He and Virginia pastored several churches over the last forty years. For many years, Al was an agent with the former Liberty Life Insurance Company. He had also been a Supervisor with the Graniteville Company. Not only was Al a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, he also served his community as a Firefighter. He had formerly served on the North Augusta Fire Department, the Belvedere Fire Department and the Langley Fire Department. Al enjoyed spreading the Gospel, being with his family and reading. He also enjoyed and took pride in his gardens. Along with his wife, Al is survived by his children, Melinda (Steve) Derr, Hugh Dockins and Whitney (Jeremy) Vetter, grandchildren, Lauren Taylor, Kristen Herman, Jace Wrightson, Jasmine Paulino, Julianna LaBarre, Jodi LaBarre, Kelli Derr, Blakely Dockins, Noah Dockins, Elizabeth Vetter, Silas Vetter and Luke Vetter and great-grandchildren, Keira Herman, Owen McCoy, Aiden McCoy and Carmen McCoy. Also preceding Al in death were siblings, Mary Posey and Ralph Dockins, Jr. The family will greet friends on Saturday, June 14, 2025, beginning at 1 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastors Stephen Phillips, Jonathan Randall and Gene Brown will officiate. Memorials in memory of Al may be given to Christian Heritage Church.
