Jack Blair Obituary

Jack Daniel Blair

Jack Daniel Blair of Albuquerque, New Mexico, born May 31, 1942, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, Marlene and daughters, Kristin Blair Dugger and Leslie Johnson on Monday, October 2, 2023.

Jack was a proud alumnus of New Mexico State University and was retired from the Office of Inspector General at the US Department of Energy. However, it was his years of government service beginning with the US Border Patrol and then the Federal Bureau of Investigation that he was most passionate about, serving as a Special Agent and Drug Enforcement Coordinator. He served in the New Mexico National Guard from 1959 to 1963 and received an honorable discharge. Jack was also an avid tennis player and Member of the Tennis Club of Albuquerque. He played on USTA League teams for years as both player and Captain and his teams qualified for 27 Sectional Championships and one National Championship in Hawaii. Jack loved and enjoyed painting, spending time with his family and friends, and going for walks with his dog Mollie. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Jack created "Love Serving Love" for the Albuquerque tennis community and raised funds and donations for the needy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel L. Blair; mother, Janice L. Blair; brothers, James E. Blair, Joe M. Blair and Tom L. Blair; sister, Sallye L. Judkins; and brother-in-law, Carl "Gene" Judkins; nephew, Tommy Blair and niece, Carlene Judkins.

Jack is survived by his wife of 27 years, Marlene Blair; daughters, Kimberley Blair Trezise (Chris), Kristin Blair Dugger (Neil), Leslie Johnson, and Lauren Hegna (Corey); his named brother, Grady Enger; grandchildren, Lauren Trezise Hanthorn (Tim), Michael Trezise, Jack Dugger, Blair Dugger, Jacob Hegna, and Emily Hegna; great-grandchild, Asher Hanthorn; nephews, Dan Judkins (Celia), Scott Blair (Maureen), and Michael "Lance" Blair (Michele); and niece, Stacey Rossi (Mike).

Jack left a special message to his wife Marlene,

"I'll be waiting for you.

I love you."

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at the Tennis Club of Albuquerque, 2901 Indian School Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. Jack asked family and friends to share their favorite stories, anecdotes, and jokes; he wanted a celebration of life not an event of mourning. Memorial donations in Jack's name are asked to go to 2nd Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Boulevard, NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87102. I am sorry for your loss of Jack. I've gotten to know him both professionally and personally over the last 25 years as a private investigator. He has always shown himself to be true professional. He always displayed a love of family as his #1 priority and concern. He will be truly missed. RIP Jack
