To the Family and many friends of John - I remember him from the Berkely Institute and his many musical gigs including the Bermuda Regiment. Always a very nice guy. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

To the family & loved ones,

Sending sincere and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Sgt. Maj. Van-Lowe. As a past member of the Bermuda Regiment band 'Woodwind section', I found him to be a great and witty teacher/mentor.

Praying for comfort and peace during this sad time.

My sincere condolences to the family of John Van-Lowe. He was my section Sgt. in the Band from 1986 to 1992, and he taught me everything! We and other band members went to Gilbralta in '86 and took part in the Changing of the Guard ceremony, played with the Royal Anglin Regiment Band. I had the privilege to play clarinet with James in the 50th Anniversary BRB concert at Victoria Park, and he kept reminding me of that Gibraltar trip. James will be missed, now a piece of the BRB legacy will be gone but not forgotten. Rest in Peace friend. We will see you again on that great getting up morning.

Goodbye James. I am still having difficulty in the reality that you have left us. You were always the life of any party or social gathering. Everyone, I sincerely hope that my message is not in-appropriate - but I feel compelled to share with all of you, this extremely special gesture that James bestowed on me. Christmas 1998, I answered my telephone (a landline) and I immediately heard: Merry Christmas Marilyn this is Van-Lowe, please do not hang up and I was immediately saranaded with a Christmas song over the telephone by James on his saxaphone. At the end of the saranade, he said "I hope this will start your Christmas celebrations on a good note. He did this 4 Christmases in a row - the following 3 times when I answered the telephone, he did not identify himself first - he just saranaded me on his saxaphone with a different Christmas song at the end he wished me a great and happy Christmas. We had absolutely no romantic connections - we were just friends via the Bermuda Regiment and he always financially donated to my 24-hour Walk for Charity. Gone but will never be forgotten - Sergeant Major Marilyn Steede.

To Albert Van-Lowe / Ernest & Michael Johnson and all the family. I am shocked to hear of James passing as I would always see him around the neighborhood to say hello and have a chat. It was through his cousin Ernest that I met Al & James back in the early 1970´s on Spice Hill Road. James was always a very kind and respectful person and very Godly in his ways. James may you be at peace with the Lord Jesus now and with all your family and friends. I will never forget you and our neighborhood chats. Rest in Peace my friend.

To the family of John,
So sorry for your loss.
John played at my 60th birthday party celebration along with his fellow brass band. I will always be appreciative as their performance and generosity was the highlight and the perfect surprise for me. Such talent will be missed but made a lot of people's lives richer. May he RIP!!!

To the family and friends of James, you have my sincerest condolences. I don't know how long I have known James; he was younger than I. He was always cheerful and ready to crack a joke or two. Very kind and gentle personally, but with a firmness of character. I pray with all those who mourn, and may he rest In Peace
