Betty Blume Obituary

Betty A. Blume, 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at her daughter’s residence in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born on December 17, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Ernest Claus and Lena (Bergeron) Claus. Betty was united in marriage to Jesse D. Blume, Jr. on July 22, 1989, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1996.

She was employed at Lutheran Nursing Home for over twenty-six years and was a devoted member of Silver Sneakers in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she enjoyed staying active and social. Betty was a wonderful baker, a puzzle enthusiast, and a faithful fan of the Indiana Pacers, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures.

She is survived by daughter, Betty J. “BJ” (Andy) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two sons, Thomas M. Rose and Ernest J. Rose both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Nicole, Audrey, Benjamin, Jennifer, Austin, and Nathan; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene, Barbara, and Helen; and two grandchildren, Tiffany and Joshua.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, with Celebrant Molly Farthing officiating.

Family and friends will be received from 4:30 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. service time. Burial will be held at a later date at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Waynedale, Indiana
