Bill was a lifelong friend. I know it is odd, but can still hear his distinctive voice when I think of him. He was excellent friend and neighbor

Maureen, we were very sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was kind, generous and courageous. His leadership and passion for all things Scottish were inspirational. We have many fond memories of Scottish Games, AGMs, and other Clan Donald functions with both of you. Many a story and laugh shared at the tent or over a drink. He will be sorely missed by all who know him.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Bill.
I met him about 35 years ago when I moved to Charleston and began my first job in banking. He was always a nice man that I admired.

A longtime friend & fellow banker, Bill was the best. His devotion to his charities was second to none. We saw him many times at the Miracle League games. His wearing of the kilt was always neat. He will be missed.

I first met Bill at 33 Charlotte St in 1967. I recall an upstanding young banker who was willing to accept two young submarine sailors as neighbors and friends. He welcomed us (Barry and Joe) to Charleston and even invited us to his parents home for Sunday lunch. I still remember his mother's sweet tea and plastic glasses. In recent years, we have enjoyed Bill and Maureen's visits to the annual Alexandria Scottish walk. Bill was a good family man who loved children and is well remembered.

Bill was one of the first members of the Scottish Society of Charleston we met. When one thinks of class and warmth, we think of Bill. He was there when I (Bill) first put on my kilt and he respectfully told me I had it on backwards. When we think of the SSOC, we think of Bill, he was front and center for many years. Our deepest condolences to his sole mate Maureen and their family. A sad time on both sides of the Atlantic. Sincerely, Bill and Lynn Pitt
