Margaret Anna Victoria Brown Sams Charleston - Margaret Anna Victoria Brown Sams, 88, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Robert J.M. Sams, entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 25, 2021. A private graveside funeral service will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Margaret was born May 25, 1933, in Gwinnett County, Georgia, one of eight children of James William Brown and Lema Etheridge Brown. She and her seven siblings were raised on a farm by two loving parents, who instilled the values of hard work and closeness to family. She treasured her memories of growing up and often shared stories. Her farm life developed into a lifelong love for yard work and gardening. She loved nothing more than "digging in the dirt and watching something grow" she said. It is also where she would say she "felt closest to God". Margaret worked for many years outside the home in retail sales. She loved being out with the public, working with customers, and helping them to find the perfect item. Margaret had a love for blue and white chinoiserie, dogs of any kind, and she had an affinity for telling jokes. She loved to share a laugh. Margaret always told family she loved them. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bob; daughter, Susan Townsend (Bobby) of Charleston, S.C.; two granddaughters: Ashley Townsend of Charleston S.C. and Allyson McGuiness (Chris) of Bluffton, S.C.; two great-grandchildren: Easton McGuiness and Milly McGuiness; and brother, Rennis Brown (Janice) of Buford, GA. The family would like to thank the kind staff of Indigo Hall Assisted Living for their loving care. Thank you also to Dr. Keith Lackey, Dr. William Geils, and Dr. Michael Wildstein. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Rd., Charleston, S.C. 29412. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com. Bob, Susan and family, we are saddened to learn of Margaret's passing. She was a lovely lady, who was always kind and caring. We had a lot of fun times together at church and in the Eastwood neighborhood. We will remember her with fond memories. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Susan, your Mom was the most caring person I have ever met. Where ever we met along the way, she wanted to know about my family. We talked about planting flowers ( I have a black thumb) so she gave me pointers. I had not seen her for a time, but I thought of her often. I personally know how hard is to lose someone you love so much. God be with you, Susan

So sorry for your loss. Margaret was a beautiful lady both inside and out. I have known her over the years, probably since the 1970's when we moved to Charleston and she was in retail selling cosmetics I believe. Over the years we bumped into each other and caught up on our families and news.
I will always remember her she was special Rest In Peace, Margaret.
