1933
2021
Thomas Christian Wick, age 87, of Gregory, MI, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June
23, 2021, at his daughter’s residence. Tom very bravely battled Dementia with Lewy
Bodies and heart disease.
Tom was born on August 14, 1933, in Northville MI, to Frederick and Agnes Wick (nee
Henning). He graduated from Northville High School, where he participated in golf and
basketball. He continued to enjoy playing golf, hockey, and bowling into his adulthood.
His love of sports included watching nearly anything that ran, bounced, or could be hit
with a bat or stick, including Tiger’s baseball, Red Wing’s hockey and, especially, watching
his daughters and granddaughter play softball.
He proudly served in the United States Army, Big Red 1 Division.
Thomas married Ann Kaye Houser on February 16th, 1963. They raised two daughters,
Kristin and Gretchen, in South Lyon, MI. In 2007, they moved to Gregory, MI. They now
reside in Heaven.
In 1993, Tom retired from a thirty year career at Consumers Power so he could take care
of Kaye, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis several years prior. They were
married for 53 years when she died in 2016. His loyalty and dedication to both his vocation
and his wife left a positive, strong impression with many, including both of his daughters.
In addition to sports, Tom enjoyed his home in Spruce Michigan, near Hubbard Lake,
having a beer at the Country Pub with his friends, gardening, cooking, bird watching, and
spending time with his family and dog, Olivia.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Kristin (Mike) Myher and Gretchen Wick, and
granddaughter, Ruthie Myher, all of Gregory, MI. He is also survived by his siblings Marie,
Jim (Betty), Fred (Jeanette), and Shirley (Ted), and brother-in-law Matt (Sue), and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce (and her husband, Bob), infant
brother Donald, brother-in-law Bill, sister-in-law Jo, and her husband, Jack.
Tom’s faith in Jesus Christ was very important to him. He was a member of St. Paul,
Northville, for many years. For the last 14 years of his life, he was a member of Trinity
Lutheran, Pinckney, MI, where he sang in the choir and supported the LWML. Donations
in his memory can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church’s mortgage reduction fund or to
the Trinity Ladies Posse (LWML).
