Loving father and lifelong adventurer Sean Stephen Marmion died Feb. 6, 2022 in a hang gliding accident in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. It was his last day flying before he was due to return home to Spring, Texas. He was 53.
Sean was born July 9, 1968, in Smithtown, New York, to parents who immigrated to the United States; Gloria Rushton from England, and Gerry Marmion from Ireland.
Sean grew up on the Isle of Portland, England, where he helped a neighbor, John Morgan, care for giant Shire horses used during royal visits and public events. One of his jobs was to take the show horses to the top of the island in the morning to graze and back down the narrow streets of Portland in the evening to their stalls, something he did with gusto astride the lead horse, delighting in being eye-to-eye with passengers on the top decks of double-decker buses.
Sean graduated from San Francisco State University, and worked as an independent sales representative for outdoor sporting goods companies, including Obermeyer and Teva. He loved to connect with the people he’d meet through his work and on his many journeys. Among the places he visited were Zanzibar, Malawi, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, Argentina, Ecuador, Colombia, and Easter Island, where he went with his daughter Emma. In recent months, he took his son John scuba diving in Cozumel, Mexico, hiked a glacier in Washington State, and went diving with great white sharks in the Pacific Ocean. Life over-brimmed in Sean and he lived it as a joyful adventure.
He loved to cook for others, sing out of key to Prince songs, and read favorite books, including Kahlil Gibran’s “The Prophet” and Milan Kundera’s “The Unbearable Lightness of Being.”
Sean was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Glass, his aunt, Patricia Leveque, his uncle Angus, aunt Betty, and cousins Stephen Leveque and David Rushton. He leaves behind his loving parents; his children John Morgan Marmion, Emma Margaret Moore and Ashley Kiely; his sister Suzanne Marmion and nephew Shayan; his aunt Mary and uncle John (“Charlie”) Markett; and his uncles Jerry Leveque and Erle Rushton. Also mourning his passing are close friends and relatives: Rolene AuClaire, Cybele Pelcher, Ocean Waller, Eileen Lomoriello; Michael, Brendan and Kevin Markett; Gerald and David Leveque, Debbie Rushton Kimball, ‘Mickey' McNall, Matthew Moore, Kara Watterson, Arpita Bhagwat and Rob Brown.
Sean’s final wishes were for his friend Rob to throw a two-drink-minimum party and to stamp hands at the door.
Sean's "Celebration of Life" will be on Saturday June 4th, 2022 in Houston. For details, please e-mail [email protected].
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a tribute donation to one of Sean’s favorite charities, Doctors Without Borders

RIP my cousin. We had so many good times in our kid days. Me and you getting in to mischief while I spent the summer visiting Portland England with you and Suzanne Marmion aunt Gloria Rushton Grandma n Grandpa Rushton n uncle Erle. Our days in Fla with you , Suzanne, and David n me, always girls against boys. The way we always played pranks on each other like us putting frogs in you boys beds and you boys getting revenge by taking mine n Suzanne's underwear n bras and hanging them on neighbors mailboxes for us to see when walking home from school lol. Such a good time when David n me come to California for spring break to see you and Aunt Gloria J Rushton . Me and Suzie getting up on the cow statue at the restaurant like we were riding it. Sean Marmion driving us drunks all around San Francisco. Me taking pics of Suzanne's feet in the bathroom stall while she was peeing and us dying laughing once she realized what I did lol. What a bunch of nuts we were. I will forever have these awesome memories with my 2 favorite cousins and my baby brother David. I know that you and Dave are together again plotting against us girls when we see you both again lol. Love you my lil cuz. RIP

I had the privledge to work and travel with Sean for the past 11 years with Teva. Sean's passion for what he did for a living was no different than that he held for his family, and his adventures. 100%.
My last trip with Sean was his last summer.
He shared a lot about his joy of getting to experience all three of his kids as young adults. His quarentine time he definately made the most of.
His time in Washington state he cherished and every hike recommendation I gave, he somehow ended up there and texted a photo at the top.
He was always smiling. Always thinking. Always planning.
Our last conversation he told me he had done all he could do with the supply chain delays, so it was off to Mexio to live life. And that he did.
What brings me peace is this horrible loss is knowing how happy Sean has been these past few years. It seemed everything had fallen into place. He was exactly where he wanted to be.
To his family I send my heartfelt condolences. His Teva family did a video call to pay tribute the week of his passing, and there was not a dry eye on the call. He was so welcoming to every new member of our team, and always made sure people felt the belonged.
Our loss of Sean runs deep, and we all send our blessings to his entire family. I pray the warmth of his memory wraps you all up in love for the rest of your days.

I miss you so much, big brother. You were my no-nonsense, go-to sounding board for life’s hard things. And an absolute barrel of laughs for life’s fun things. I’m not sure what I’m going to do without you. But I’m proud of who you were, deeply ethical, a tireless dad, and a loyal big brother. And you lived life on your terms. You told me, surround yourself when people who are fountains, not drains. You were a fountain.
