Russell BARRON Obituary

Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Linhaven Long Term Care on April 4, 2022, in his 81st year. His battle with dementia is now over and may he rest in peace. Russ was predeceased by his wife Wendy. Loving father to Tammy (Keith), Laurie (Mike), John (Dana) and stepfather to Rhonda (Tom). Dear grandfather to Brad (Rachel), Brittaney, Dalton, Payton, Raegan, Olivia, Kerstyn, Lucas, and step-grandfather to Carter. Russ was a St. Catharines professional firefighter for 30 years. Being a firefighter wasn't just a job it's who he was. During his retirement dad and Wendy enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and summers travelling with different motorcycle clubs. Russ loved camping and being outdoors. Throughout his life Russ enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren's activities. Russ was known to be laid back and easy going. He will be remembered for his amazing smile. Special thanks to Linhaven staff for taking such good care of Dad. My condolences to the Barron family. I had the pleasure to work with Russ at Station 1 and Station 6 during my first few years as a firefighter. Russ always had a great smile, an easy going manner, and coffee brewing. His Saturday morning breakfasts were legendary and he even welcomed my wife to join us a few times!
May he rest in peace

My condolences to to the Barron family.
Russ, I believe, worked on every Plt. of the St. Cath. Fire Dept. at some point in his career. I had the pleasure to work with him on 1 Plt. for a period of time. Everyone knew Russ because he made it a point to know you! He was simply `Cool´. Easy going, always a smile. He had an subtle swagger about him with his jacket collar `popped up´ and just maybe the top 3 buttons undone. If you appeared worried or stressed Russ could bring you `back to square´ over a "cuppa Coffee"! I loved Russ for that. He was a great FF who brought a little bit of serenity to the chaos of a scene.
Fond memories.

The Barron Family are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Russ was an easy going, positive and always brought that smile everywere he went. Russ was one of only a few Firefighters that worked on EVERY Platoon. He would give up his spot on a Platoon to help the manpower shift to balance the Platoon senority. A great firefighter to say the least!!...I'm glad he passed through my life!!...God bless...Rest in Peace Russ!!
