Ronald G. Burns, a longtime resident of Media, PA, passed away at Lankenau Hospital on June 11, 2022 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of Marie Burns (née Wood), a devoted father and loving grandfather.
Ronald was born on December 12, 1932 in Philadelphia to the late Herbert and Caroline (née Glatt) Burns. After graduating from West Philadelphia High School, Mr. Burns served in the US Army in the Korean War. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph’s University and did his graduate studies in philosophy on an assistantship at Fordham University. There he met his wife, Marie, and then embarked upon a career in public relations and corporate communications in Manhattan and later in Philadelphia.
Mr. Burns married Marie B. Wood in 1959, and after living in Scarsdale, NY, they settled in Media, PA, where they raised their children Ronald, Suzanne and Gregory. Ronald Sr. volunteered with various ministries at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. He enjoyed biblical research in Greek and Latin. Mr. Burns had a great appreciation for opera, classical and jazz music and was a skilled writer and photographer.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Marie B. Wood Burns and their children, Ronald of Doylestown, PA, Suzanne (Christophe) of Media, PA, and Gregory (Sarah) of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA; and 8 grandchildren: Luke, Noah, Collin, Kira, Corinne, Zoé, Ashley & Sophie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Rd. Media, PA 19063, on Monday, June 20, 2022. Visitation from 9:30-11 am. Mass will begin at 11 am. Burial to follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield.
