Rodney Gene Windle, longtime resident of Bluejacket, Okla., passed away Tuesday evening, April 5th, 2022, while surrounded by his family. He was 57 years old.

Rod was born December 30th, 1964 in Kansas City, MO to Gene and Carolyn (Floyd) Windle. He was graduate of Bluejacket High School. He worked for Eastern State Hospital as a security guard for 10 years. He then worked several years for Atlas Telephone Company. He then worked 15 years for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation performing road maintenance.

He was a huge supporter of the Bluejacket community and everyone knew him. He retired from the Bluejacket Volunteer Fire Dept., serving as Chief for several years. He was also a supporter of Bluejacket Chieftains sports. He especially loved to watch his kids play when they were in school. He also loved fishing, woodworking, cooking out, and being with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by two infant sisters, Tammy and Carol.

He is survived by his parents, Gene and Carolyn; three children, Sidney Coker and husband Lake of Bluejacket, Sophie Windle and boyfriend, Tony Stewart, of Miami, and Ryan Windle of Vancouver, WA; two siblings, Bryan Windle of Jay, OK and Dana Christian of Miami; a grandson, Kolson Coker, who is still on the way; and seven nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, April 8th, from 6-8 p.m. at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9th, at the Bluejacket School Gymnasium. Pastors Ralph Heiney and Austin Clark will officiate. He will be laid to rest in the Bluejacket Cemetery.

Rod can be viewed from 8:00 a.m. Friday through the visitation times. The casket will remain closed at the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Rod’s memory be made to the Bluejacket Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 59 Bluejacket, OK 74333.

This saddens our hearts that our friend has moved on in life. Rod was always doing something for the town of Bluejacket. I will miss laugh because his whole body shook. My mom Grandma Judy really liked the Atlas Bunch of boys she called them. To the Windle family our hearts and thoughts with prayers for you all. God Bless.
