Rickie "Rick" Hensler Obituary
Rickie “Rick” Dale Hensler, 61, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born January 14, 1961, in Logan, Ohio, son of the late Edgar Jr. and Ethel “Eck” Elma (Pendleton) Hensler. Rick was married for over 41 years to Carlotta (Prater) Hensler, who survives.
Rick was a lifelong resident of McArthur and wouldn’t live anywhere else. He had worked various jobs through his life but the most notable was the owner operator of R & C Quick Stop that was established in 1999 and the addition of McDonalds in 2012 on the west end of McArthur. He liked piddling with his equipment usually causing more havoc than completing projects with it as well as camping and horseback riding with the horse tribe at Turner Ridge. He also served on the board of the Vinton County Health department for 10 years and was a member of the McArthur Eagles. Rick was also a kidney transplant recipient by a living donor which is the greatest gift a person can bestow to someone else. Thank you, Faith Wright!
Along with his wife, Rick is survived by his son, Raymond Edgar Hensler of McArthur; brother, Jack (Sarah) Hensler of Columbus; sisters, Patty (the late Robert) Saunders of McArthur, Sally (Duke) Hopkins of Chillicothe and Vickie (John) Dearing of Jackson; father and mother-in-law, Carles and Martha Prater of Dundas; his bestie companions, his dogs, Red and Reese Cup and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Hensler and nephew, Garry Saunders.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, 63849 US Hwy 50, McArthur, Ohio, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church from 12 p.m. until the time of the service, with an Eagles service being held at 2:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Rickie “Rick” Hensler, to the charity of your choice.
