To the family of Elder Joel Rush.
My name is Rev. H.I. Wright and I had the chance to meet Elder. Rush at my home church where I was serving as a deacon at that time. I recalled his fire for young people, his passion for music and his love for God. When I met him----along with the blessing of my pastor, we were able to put some awesome events at the church. Such as bringing my alum high school Mackenzie choir to perform. Although I had been ministering at other churches, We had a chance to do a night revival the day before Valentines Day. I remember his ordination as an Elder in the Lords chuurch. He was an overall awesome person. On behalf of my family, and myself I send my prayers and condolences. I am apologize for the lateness I just found out.

God knew on July 4th he didn't need a cook his need was a Choir Director and Soloist so, he decide to choose You.
I know You are there to his right hand because, You are absent from the Body.
You take your Rest Cousin. I know many times I told You give OUT but, never give UP. God always has the last word Sleep on Cousin till We all meet again.

Jo Jo, you were an amazing cousin, singer, pianist, speaker and loving human being. I truly respected your vibrant personality, honesty and mindset. We had many conversations about African American History and how we as a people positivity impacted this country. To say the least, I learned a lot from you. You were a wonderful cousin and friend. You will be missed. Love and Respect, Beverley “Pemo”.

I’m so sad to hear of the sudden passing of my friend Joel. Joel made such an impact in the city of Flint. I won’t ever forget our days in the choir at The Greater Mt. Calvary. Joel had an awesome voice. I will miss our talks when he would call me “out of the blue.” I loved seeing Joel and those great nieces of his. I called them Joel’s Angels. My prayers for those babies and the entire family. Joel rests now in the arms of JESUS.

Prayers for the entire family. Joel and I lived in the same apt complex and I was just thinking about him because I had not seen him at the MTA terminal lately. He was one of a kind and will be missed. The Flint School district will miss him because he kept the students in line.
