My heart breaks for your family. I can close my eyes and still see him and hear him as he cheered me on. Twenty plus years ago is a long time, but I have great memories of him and nothing but. I have seen the passion of coaching in his eyes during wins and defeats. I remember him as an amazing coach/person and someone to look up too. I pray for comfort, healing, patience. May God reach down with his love and everyone find peace. ✝

When I was 10 years old and new kid at Leary elementary my friend was invited to a birthday party. I was staying the night at his house. He said it was cool if I went with him. I was very awkward and shy. I didn’t feel like I fit in with the crowd. So this taller than life 15 year old hung out with me and played basketball with me and made me feel welcomed. That kid was Michael Ruth. I am not sure why that moment stuck with me after all these years but I will never forget it. Praying for family and friends.

Prayers to all of you guys. Coach Ruth was and great coach and a better friend. I’ll always cherish the memories on and off the diamond. He kept me in line on the diamond and was easy to talk to and listen to. All of you guys were good to me. Again I’m sorry for your loss.

Michael was someone I had the privilege of attending high school with, college with and also coaching with. The thing that never changed about Michael was how much love, respect and compassion he treated everyone who came across his path. He is and always will be greatly missed.

Coach Ruth was the one to make me fall back In love with football. Thank you for everything Rufus, I love you forever. Rest in Paridise Coach.

Coach I will never forget you. I will always remember how you coached, taught us how to be better athletes hell how to be a better person all the way around. You was a good friend after school anytime I seen you we would talk for 30min and both of us would be late for whatever we was going to. There is a lot I could say about you COACH the many times you helped me after I got out of school you was one of the only people that tried to get me to stay in school and looking back now I thank you for that COACH YOU WILL BE MISSED, LOVED, AND NEVER FORGOTTEN. I'm so very sorry for your loss. I went to school with Michael since the 5th grade. He was one of the sweetest guys I ever met. Always there if you needed help with school work or just to talk. He will be missed greatly. Fly high sweet friend and it's not goodbye...see ya later.

Terry, Jean, Ronda and Tiff, I am so sorry to hear of Micheal’s passing. He was always so kind and soft spoken. He touched many lives, not only in his coaching, but in day to day life. Every time I saw him he would walk up with an extended hand and say “how are you sir.” He will be truly missed. Thoughts and prayers are with you.
