Michael Robert Bold, 58, of Quakertown, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital – Upper Bucks Campus. Born in Allentown, September 23, 1966, Michael was the son of Robert E. Bold of Schnecksville, and the late Barbara A. (Boyle) Bold. He graduated from William Allen High School in 1984 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Kutztown University and a master’s degree from Wilkes University. Mike was employed at Merck since 2020 after years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Michael also taught at Roosevelt Elementary School in Allentown for 13 years, a time that he cherished and remembered proudly. Mike also worked part-time at Beer City in Quakertown simply because he loved to interact with people. He was a member of the Train Collectors Association, a hobby that he shared with his dad.
Survivors: In addition to his father, Robert and his friend, Joan Phillips; daughter, Julia R. Bold (Anthony V. Shahin) of Bethlehem; partner, Stacy L. Gray and their girls Fawn and Frida with whom he resided; sister, Judith A. Doyle (Andrew) of Slatington; nieces, Katelyn A. Knapp (John) of Slatington and their son, Jackson, Andrea E. Doyle (Joseph Guan) of Easton; several cousins.
Service: A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. The Rev. Steven C. Davis will be officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Mike LOVED Christmas and always supported children’s fundraisers; In his honor, a Toys for Tots drop box will be provided for those inclined to donate an unwrapped toy for disadvantaged children during the holiday season. Mike was a lifelong educator of children and adults, who loved science and worked tirelessly to spread awareness about recycling, climate change, wildlife stewardship, and being a responsible citizen of this earth. He remembered each and every student he taught and genuinely delighted in their success. Sports were a passion that he shared with so many that he knew. He would often find himself having to explain how he could be a Steelers fan while loving the Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers at the same time. Mike enjoyed working a full-time job and a part-time job because he loved people. If there was a crowd of people, he would run straight to it because he enjoyed the banter and comradery. He will be missed especially by his lifelong friends who still call themselves the Fab Four, his brothers. His larger-than-life personality was an integral part of his neighborhood, and he was a founding member of the Familia de Alamingo group, people whom he considered family. He rarely missed a family event because family was everything to him—we will forever leave a seat for him at the table. He was the proud creator of Cookiepalooza, padre of pumpkin carving, operator of the Halloween Candy Covid Catcher, beach bum, animal lover and ally to all. He spent the days leading up to his hospital stay watching Hallmark movies with Frida and Fawn, TikToks that made him cry, and drinking his beloved Coca Cola. Mike’s body will be donated to science through Anatomy Gifts Registry. By donating his body to science, he will have a real and lasting way to support medical research advancements that will impact the lives of future generations for decades to come.

I’m am deeply saddened by this news. Mr Bold was my favorite 5th grade teacher. I have so many awesome and fun memories of him as our teacher. He made learning fun and I looked forward to going to school every day. I still remember “pranking him” so we thought, lol during April fool hiding in the closet and storming out and yelling “April fools” when we heard him ask where did everyone go? He will always have a special place in my heart and memories. My most deepest condolences to family and friends. Praying for your strength, comfort, peace during this difficult time.

I'm so sad about Mike. Although we worked together at PPD only briefly, we kept in touch long after. He was a delightful and amazing human. I will miss sharing our love of dogs, views of politics and life, and the occasional taunts about the performance of our beloved football teams.

I am so sad to see this. Mr. Bold was my 5th grade teacher at Roosevelt in ‘95-‘96. I struggled with anxiety that year and he worked so closely with me and my parents to make sure I was getting the best care in class. He had such a passion for teaching and truly loved every one of his students. I will never forget the nickname he gave me, “Sap”, since the stone “Amber” is formed from tree sap. I remember having so much fun in class; learning about human anatomy and even a solar eclipse that year. Mr. Bold will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope he is up there knowing the positive impacts he had on so many lives. Prayers to his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
