Leroy Campbell Jr. Obituary

LeRoy Vincient Campbell, Jr. went Home on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in Scotland, Tx at the age of 60 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 9th, 2017 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Tx.

A graveside service will be Sunday, September 10th at 2 p.m. at Lake Creek Cemetery in northern Archer County.

Born June 6, 1957 in Wichita Falls, Tx, he was the son of the late LeRoy Campbell, Sr. and Jolynda Crow. He graduated from Archer City High School in 1975 and began working for Medders Oil, Co. He was employed there for 42 years as a cowboy, pumper, and mechanic.

On December 16, 1976, LeRoy married Kathy Harris. Together, they raised three daughters, teaching them the values of working hard and loving much.

LeRoy enjoyed watching Nascar, fishing, playing with his grandkids, and dancing with Kathy and the girls, especially to the music of Tandem Express, Change of Heart, and Hired Guns. He described himself as a “jack of all trades and a master of none” and if it was broken, he could fix it.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Kathy; three daughters, Tareh and husband Jeremy Maxwell; Anna and husband Jay Black; and Lea and husband Earl Cot’e; eight grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Jenna, Sarah, Abbey, Bryce, Kaden, Bennett, and Matson; brothers James, Sonny, and David; sisters Cindy, Sharon, and Teresa; his aunt, Jean Steinsick, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Valera Campbell and Corky and Kitten Crow.

LeRoy also leaves behind countless friends and especially fellow firemen, having served the community of Scotland and the surrounding area with the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years. When he was asked why, he simply replied, “My reward in life is knowing that I helped somebody else.”
