Joyce Marie Ingram of Pauls Valley was born February 11, 1935 in Byars, Oklahoma to Cleddie Davis and Nora Grider Davis and passed from this life on January 20th, 2022 in Pauls Valley at the age of 86 years. She was the first of 12 children. Joyce grew up in Pauls Valley and attended Pauls Valley schools through the 10th grade. Later in life she got her GED of which she was very proud. She was the mother of 4 children she loved dearly. She married the love of her life, Glen Ingram, Feb. 28, 1986. She was the rock of our family, the problem solver, the healer, the fixer, the listener, She loved with everything in her. You could be so upset at life or situations that life throws at you and just walk in her house and immediately feel better, safe. She was our family prayer warrior; guess she took that up when Granny Grider died. Lord knows this family needs one.
Joyce definitely had the Davis sense of humor and used it til the day she left us. One thing of millions that I always loved and admired about her was how she cared so much for people. She would help a stranger as fast as she would family. She worked nights and one night this kid came in down on his luck and was just wanting to go home. She fed him, bought him a bus ticket home, and gave him a few bucks food money. He asked her why she would help him like that when she didn’t know him. She said, “I have 4 children and I’m trusting that someday if one of them needs help someone will help them too.”
She loved fishing!!! There were several years where if you wanted to see mama you had to go to low water bridge cause she was on the river fishing. She also loved her little house and yard on the end of Pine Street. She and Glen both enjoyed having a nice yard. When she was still cooking, she always cooked enough extra for several people, always! She loved for people to come over and eat. In the evening you went to mamas, that’s just what you did. She was a beautiful, smart, headstrong woman who will be missed greatly
She was preceded in death by her father, Cleddie Wallace Davis, her mother, Nora Lee (Grider) Davis, her husband, Glen Ingram; six brothers, Leroy Davis, Denny Davis, Bob Davis, Jerry Davis, Joe Davis, Mike Davis; two sisters, Patsy Blevins, Kathy Billus; one grandson, Jason Mantooth; one great grandchild, Taylor Paul.
