John Dutton Obituary

John Anthony Dutton, 73, passed away in San Francisco, California, on May 27, 2022. John was born in Oakland, California, and raised in nearby Pleasant Hill. After graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1966, he went on to study accounting at Armstrong College, earning his BA. John had a long career with CalTrans and retired in 2002.

John is predeceased by his partner of 30 years, William Sheffield, his parents William and Dorothy; survived by siblings William, Mary and Gary (Vicki), and numerous nieces and nephews. In retirement, John loved watching old movies on TCM, listening to Judy Garland and 60’s rock and roll, enjoying a drink at Aunt Charlie’s, and swimming at the JCC. He also took a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy with his beloved friend Paula. 

His loved ones will have a celebration of his life on July 30, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to Meals on Wheels, San Francisco.
