Jimmy Ray Richardson, 67, of Fuquay-Varina, formerly of Lumberton, passed away on Sunday August 7, 2022 at home in the arms of his wife.
Jimmy Richardson is survived by his wife, Kathy Richardson of the home; his son, Jimmy Richardson Jr. and his wife Mandy; his daughter, Jill Merritt and her husband Scott; his five grandchildren, Katelyn, Gracie, Lily, Jackson and Karlee; his mother, Maebell Richardson; brothers, Dale Richardson and his wife Robin and Ed Richardson and his wife Shirley.
He was preceded in death by his father, Furman Richardson; and sisters, Phyllis Wilkerson and Pat Lewis.
Jimmy was married to the love of his life, Kathy for over 50 years. Their love carried them through good times and hardships. He was a loving and proud father to his son and daughter that they raised together.
Jimmy spent his life giving to all those for whom he cared with a special place in his heart for the elderly and children.
He remained a kid at heart through out his life. Quick to joke and laugh and always up for an adventure. He taught himself to walk a tightrope as a child and became a pool shark as a young man (often paying the bills with his winnings).
He was sought after for his skills as an electrician and known for his ability to fix almost anything.
He treasured his relationships with his grandchildren. Playing with them and showing them off every chance he could. Each one special to him in their own way.
Even at the very end of his life, helping others filled his thoughts; and at his request the family ask that in lieu of flowers or cards, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Please join Jimmy’s family as we both grieve his loss and celebrate his life and all that he imparted to us at his memorial service followed by visitation with the family and a meal served in the fellowship hall on Wednesday August 10, 2022 at 11:00am - 1:00pm at East Lumberton Baptist Church, 201 Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton, North Carolina.

Kathy, wanted to reach out to you to thank you and Jimmy. At a time in my life, Jimmy became an older brother. Playing ping pong and shooting pool. I remember holding baby Jill as you cooked supper and cleaning up kitchen. Such a long time has past, but know that you and Jimmy had a impact on my life. I’m so sorry that he past! Hope family & friends surround you with Love, support, and understanding.

Kathy, JR, Jill,
I am sorry to hear of Jimmy 's passing. I haven't seen him since JR played ball for me at the Jr. High. I have
fond memories of Jimmy in school and playing sports together. He was fun to be around and laugh with. He had a great sense of humor.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. When our love ones become memories, our memories become blessings from God. I pray God will bless you with joy from these memories and will give you peace that surpasses all understanding.
