Brenda Hunt Obituary

Brenda Faye Hamilton Hunt, 72, of Leland, North Carolina, passed away on May 15, 2022, in Leland after three years of treatment for leukemia.

Brenda was born March 8, 1950, in Durham, North Carolina, to Delmar Elliott Hamilton and Mildred Satterfield Hamilton, both deceased. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Gary W. Hunt. She also leaves behind her sisters Marcia Tovar (Armando) and Ann Farmer (Frank), two nieces Leah Tovar and Jessica Farmer Spencer (Noah), and nephew, Trenton Tovar (Anne).

Brenda and Gary met while they were employed at Northern Telecom in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Their work took them to Belfast, London, and Paris, giving them many opportunities for travel in Europe, and finally to Atlanta, Georgia, before they returned to their home state in 2012.

A private internment service will be held at First Baptist Church in Wilmington, where Brenda and Gary were members. A memorial service will be held on June 18, 2022 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; First Baptist Church of Wilmington; or a nonprofit of the donor’s choice.

The family extends its deepest appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Harry Erba, Donna Adams, and the staff at the Duke Cancer Center for their care and kindness to Brenda. The family also offers its deepest appreciation to the caring nurses and staff from Liberty Home Care & Hospice Services in Brunswick County who provided resources, guidance, and personal care.

Brenda’s faith sustained her during treatment and to the end of her life. We give thanks that through God’s mercy Brenda has found eternal peace. We know Brenda had a good day today and will have a better day tomorrow.
