Beulah (Cochran) Hopson Obituary

Beulah Maretta (Cochran) Hopson, age 98, an Atoka, OK resident, was born on Sunday, January 28, 1923, to Arthur Amon and Mary Maretta (New)Cochran, at Atoka, OK. Beulah passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Atoka, OK. She attended Harmony Public School and Atoka High School. Beulah was a house wife and homemaker. Beulah was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. She married Arnold Walter Hopson at Ft. Smith, Arkansas on February 27, 1946. Beulah and Arnold initially moved to Fort Bragg, CA, where their four daughters were born, later returning to Harmony, Oklahoma to raise their family. She played piano for her church congregation and returned to school in her 50s to earn her GED. She loved gardening, any and all animals, her pet bird Polly and she especially enjoyed chasing around all her grandchildren.
Beulah is survived by her daughters, Anna Smith and husband Charlie of Durant, OK, Norma Taylor and husband Freddie of Kiowa, OK, Ahlona Jackson and husband Raymond of Stringtown, OK, Mona Hopson of Atoka, OK; grandchildren, Andrea Maxey, Shana Hutchinson, Teasha Hopson, Travis Jackson, Seneca Bartlett, Kelly Chastain, Jason McKinney, Zack Taylor, Coy Allen, Bre Reilly, Josh Jackson, Brook Taylor, Kaci Allen, TC Losawyer; 35 great grandchildren; along with numerous great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Amon and Mary Maretta (New) Cochran; husband, Arnold Walter Hopson; grandson, Arnold Hopson McKinney; granddaughter, Chandus Hoff; great granddaughter, Katrina Jackson; brothers, Arthur Cochran Jr., Charles Cochran, Herman Cochran; sisters, Irene Shotwell, Almadell Killion, Clara White******************************************************************************
