Albert Williams Jr. "Cowboy" Obituary

Albert Williams, Jr., also known as Cowboy, was born September 9, 1957, in Houston, Texas to Carrie Landry Williams and the late Albert Williams, Sr.

Albert grew up in the Houston area and he enjoyed spending the summers of his youth with his aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Lawtell/Lewisburg, Louisiana area. His aunts Edna, Georgia, and Elva Marie were some of the best cooks he knew, and he often spoke fondly of his grandmother’s cooking as well! It’s no wonder he loved to eat good food, frequently traveling to New Orleans to enjoy some of favorite restaurants.

Albert graduated from M.B. Lamar High School in 1976 and Texas Southern University School of Pharmacy in 1983 and began a 36-year career at Walgreens as a pharmacist and a Pharmacy Manager. Albert enjoyed practicing pharmacy as well as being a preceptor to pharmacy students, teaching them the practical applications of pharmacy.

In January 1989 Albert married Beverly Mallett, and they welcomed their son Albert, III (Trey) in 1991 and son Nicholas in 1994. He worked to give his sons the best education his money could buy and was elated to be able to see them grow into successful young men. Albert’s own father passed away before Albert finished college.

Albert suffered a fall on May 29, 2022, and after being in an unconscious state for nearly seven weeks, he passed away peacefully on July 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Albert was preceded in death by his father, Albert Williams, Sr., his grandparents Elton and Aline Landry, and his grandmother Elizabeth Williams Savoie.

Cherishing his memories are Beverly, his loving wife of 33 years, his sons Trey and Nicholas, his mother Carrie Landry Williams, and his brother John Wayne Williams, Sr. He is also survived by his nephew and godchild, John Williams Jr, his niece Tiffany Williams Robertson (Spencer) and their children, LaPorsha and Travion. Additionally, he is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, friends, and his Walgreens family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 4000 Sumpter, Houston, TX 77026. Viewing will begin at 8:00 am, Rosary at 9:15, and Mass at 10:00. Interment will follow at Paradise South Cemetery, 2237 Cullen Blvd., Pearland, TX 77581.

So sorry for the family loss and my many for your hearts healing. This very good man shared times in my life as I came across him in the world of Walgreens. I floated as a pharmacist for a while but he gave much wisdom to me as we worked together. I too worked for 32 years at Walgreens but 22 as a pharmacist. He blessed me as a pharmacist, alumnus and a friend. He will be truly missed.
