Ruth Masters Edwards
AIKEN - Mrs. Ruth Wood Masters Edwards, 91, precious and loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother simply transitioned from this world into the eternal presence of her Lord and Savior a day after her 91st birthday, April 30, 2021, at Pepper Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an illness.
Born in Shelby, NC on April 29, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Alma Short Wood. She was retired from the textile & manufacturing industry and was a member of Union Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. Since moving to Aiken to live with her son, Mrs. Edwards was an active part in the life of Shiloh Baptist Church where her son is Senior Pastor. Anyone who knew Ruth knew two things about her. One was her love of cooking and especially her pound cakes and the second thing was the sparkle in her eyes when she was in the presence of, or when someone would mention her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her two sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. Chris & Areshia Masters of Warrenville, SC and Dale Masters of Lattimore, NC; 4 grandchildren, Brent (Shonnie) Masters, Brain (Amanda) Masters, Hannah (Brad) Temple & Michael (Champayne) Masters and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 3. 2021 at 3:00p.m. from the sanctuary of Union Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Shumate officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
