Suzanne Chesnut Obituary

Suzanne Williams Chesnut CHARLESTON - Suzanne Williams Chesnut, 70, of Charleston, South Carolina, peacefully entered into eternal rest on the early morning of August 11, 2024. Suzanne was born September 4, 1953 in Georgetown, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Loyal Westley Williams and the late Ruby Rawls Williams. Suzanne was a graduate of Winthrop University. After graduation, she went on to lead her own dance school of over 400 students in Georgetown, SC. She was very active in her church, First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, as well as the Charleston Garden Club and Gibbes Museum of Art. Her passions were gardening, creating beautiful flower arrangements, and entertaining. She loved being around people and her beloved puppies, Bella and Bentley, and her close companion, Ralph W. Ledford. She is survived by her daughter, Blair Chesnut McGuire (William) of Atlanta, GA; son, R. Chamberlain Chesnut of Charleston, SC; sister, Pamela Williams Loesch (John) of Summerville, SC; brother, Loyal Westley Williams, Jr. (Denise) of Lugoff, SC; two nephews, Erik John Loesch (Juliana Manuse) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Gregory Thomas Loesch (Lauren) of Ladson, SC; two nieces, Amanda Williams Hicks (Jason) of Lugoff, SC; Tracey Williams Lynch (Chad) of Columbia, SC. Suzanne was known to light up any room with her contagious smile and laughter. Always generous and thoughtful, she never missed a birthday or a special occasion of a family member. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 17th, at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to First (Scots) Presbyterian Church or the Garden Club of Charleston Charitable Fund for Garden Projects: TGCC Charitable Fund, c/o Jan Gooding, 4663 Archfield Ave., Meggett, SC 29449. Suzanne Chesnut!!! Oh how I'll miss you so. My close friend and partner in crime in and around (and sometimes outside of) Simmon's Pointe. When I learned earlier today that you went to heaven to be with Jesus, at first It truly wrung my heart out with tears but shortly thereafter, I became so happy and a huge smile came upon my face. Please give Sullivan Fitzgerald a kiss for me and Know how much everyone that is still down here will miss you tremendously.
You really taught me so many things. Your heart was bigger than your body and I love you so much for your consistent love, support, friendship, and so many other things. Our multiple shopping outings.
Your beauty far exceeded anyone else I have ever known and your words of wisdom and sense of humor were like no other. Whether we were driving around on (someone's) golf cart when Bella decided she needed to run down to the pond (usually IN THE RAIN), or at McDonald's for 1/2 sweet+1/2 unsweet tea, or of course a quick run to Kudzu... You would always share any leftovers and anything with me for that matter. You were the walking example of how to live and love just like Jesus.
I miss you already. Every time I see a beautiful Christmas tree decorated in all white lights I'll think of you. I am so blessed to have had so many years of friendship to have shared with you where we would giggle over our TV trays full of food or when you'd ask me to come help you down stairs in the garden area that you truly loved so much, making sure that God's beauty was intensified for anyone who passed by. Or the day that you were so excited to share with me that you had found me 'the perfect husband', whom you had found while watching the today show...(with it being unfortunate that Phil wickham already has a wife ). Your love to love other people with gifts on special holidays and birthdays and you even went as far as having flowers delivered to me on Valentine's day because of how single you know I am.
Let's face it: you surely knew me better than most people in my life and I will always love you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for taking such exquisite care of me and the boys over the years that we became close friends. XO Joy Lynne Erickson and Bentley B.

Suzanne always had a buoyant spirit and fashion flair! Her "Hey there!" greeting always brought a smile. I´m thankful to have known Suzanne and am saddened by her passing. Her top priorities were always Blair and Chamberlain, always on her heart.

Blair and Chamberlain, I will truly miss your mother! She was so upbeat and always had so much energy and always a smile and laughter whether it was helping at church, shopping for ya´ll, or meeting you at the airport! She will be missed !
